Predicting Working Memory Capacity Based on Glutamatergic Concentration and its Modulation of Functional Connectivity

چکیده
Working memory (WM) capacity, the amount of information one can hold online in mind, has a central role cognition. Previous electrophysiological and imaging studies revealed pivotal persistent activity within parietal frontal regions as neural foundations underpinning WM capacity. The best candidate molecules determining are brain’s major excitatory inhibitory neurotransmitters, glutamate gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), respectively. However, our knowledge these neurophysiological determinants forming capacity is still poor. Using magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS), we examined contribution GABA left intraparietal sulcus (IPS) inferior/middle gyrus (FG) tracking A positive association was found between IPS By utilising resting-state functional MRI, identified negative parieto-cingulate connectivity Individual variation explained by glutamatergic concentration IPS. Moreover, that mediated relationship interparietal This set findings reveals novel mechanistic insight which shapes via connectivity.

the effect of functional/notional approach on the proficiency level of efl learners and its evaluation through functional test
in fact, this study focused on the following questions: 1. is there any difference between the effect of functional/notional approach and the structural approaches to language teaching on the proficiency test of efl learners? 2. can a rather innovative language test referred to as "functional test" ge devised so so to measure the proficiency test of efl learners, and thus be as much reliable an...

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of working memory (WM) training on WM capacity and performance of novice karate practitioners (karateka). Methods: Research method is quasi-experimental with a pretest posttest control group design. A total of 24 karate practitioners were selected among Alborz (Alborz Province, iran) novice karateka by convenience sampling me...
متن کاملFunctional connectivity during working memory maintenance.
Neurophysiological experiments with monkeys have demonstrated that working memory (WM) is associated with persistent neural activity in multiple brain regions, such as the prefrontal cortex (PFC), the parietal cortex, and posterior unimodal association areas. WM maintenance is believed to require the coordination of these brain regions, which do not function in isolation but, rather, interact t...
